“I chose Franklin because they are a local family owned business and I had had enough of the corporate upsell strategy foisted on me recently by one of the large corporate entities. Jesse did not try to sell me anything other than what I needed. If you need a very good master electrician call Franklin and ask them to send Jesse.”

Common electrical issues & quick fixes

Electrical problems can range from minor annoyances to major safety hazards. Before scheduling a service call, try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check your circuit breakers. If your power is out in certain areas, it might be a tripped circuit breaker. Locate your panel and check if any breakers are in the “off” position.

2. Inspect your outlets. If an outlet isn’t working, it might be due to a tripped GFCI outlet. Check nearby outlets for a reset button. If the outlet is hot or sparking, turn off the power at the breaker and call a professional.

3. Test your light switches. If a switch isn’t working, it might be faulty. Turn off power at the breaker, remove the switch cover, and inspect the wiring.

4. Check your light bulbs. If a light isn’t working, it might be a burnt-out bulb. Replace it and see if that resolves the issue.

5. Inspect your appliances. If an appliance isn’t working, it might be a tripped GFCI outlet or a blown fuse.

6. Look for flickering lights. Flickering lights can be caused by loose bulbs, faulty wiring, or an overloaded circuit.

7. Check for exposed wires. Exposed wires are a serious safety hazard. Turn off the power at the breaker and call a professional immediately.

I have been using Franklin AC Plumbing and Electrical now for the last 10 years. Have had nothing but great service from them. I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Angel to figure out why my AC was providing warm air, not cool. Angel arrived next day, quickly and efficiently repaired the problem and was back up within 20 minutes. Thank you Franklin, and thank you Angel.

Micky and Steven came to my house for inspection. Very thorough, nice and professional!

FAQ

Common electrical questions.

What is a service call?
A service call is when we send an electrician out to help you figure out what’s going on with your electrical system. Once he figures out the issue, he’ll lay out the repair options and let you decide what route to take. If you don’t want to do the repair, you’re only out the $29 service fee.
Can you help with electrical panel upgrades?
Absolutely! We can upgrade your electrical panel to ensure it meets your home’s power needs and complies with current safety standards.
Do you offer electrical safety inspections?
We do. A full electrical safety inspection is $149 — an electrician walks the panel, outlets, switches, GFCI/AFCI coverage, smoke detectors, and visible wiring, then emails you a written report with photos. (This is a different product from our $29 service call, which is for diagnosing a specific problem you already know about.)
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
Circuit breakers protect your home from electrical hazards like fire and electrocution. If you have a breaker that keeps tripping, you may have too many appliances on the circuit, a short in the circuit, a ground fault, or a faulty circuit breaker.
Do you offer services other than electrical?
Yes, we offer both plumbing and HVAC services.
