TL;DR: Most NWA homes leak 20–40% of their heated and cooled air through the ductwork. Franklin is a certified Aeroseal contractor — we offer free in-home assessments and a flat-rate quote to seal your ducts from the inside out.
The pitch for duct sealing
One of the most surprising statistics in the air conditioning industry is that 25–40% of the air generated by the average homeowner’s HVAC system is leaked out and never even makes it to the living space. That amount of air leakage can lead to all kinds of problems: high energy bills, hot and cold spots in the home, even lower indoor air quality. Aeroseal® duct sealing was invented to help reduce or even eliminate those issues. It is so effective that it was named by the Department of Energy as one of the 23 most beneficial technologies available to American consumers that has come out since the agency was created.
Aeroseal® works by blowing a fog-like sealant through your duct system. As the sealant travels through your ducts, it fills many of the holes and gaps it runs into, quickly reducing the amount of air leaking from your duct system. Plugging those holes results in things like:
- Reduced energy usage. A well-sealed duct system allows your HVAC system to cool or heat your home more efficiently. Depending on how leaky your ducts are, the savings can be substantial.
- Fewer hot/cold spots. Sealing your duct system with Aeroseal® allows more air to actually make it to the end of the duct run and often reduces or even eliminates problems with hot/cold spots.
- Cleaner indoor air. Holes in a duct system not only allow conditioned air out, they allow dirty air in — insulation, dust, allergens, bugs. Sealing those holes keeps nasty air out.

Duct cleaning is included with every non-flex duct sealing job
All kinds of stuff gets trapped in your ducts over the years — dust, allergens, hair, bugs. Duct cleaning removes much of that nasty stuff from your duct system, resulting in cleaner air for you and your family. It also makes the Aeroseal® sealing process more effective because clean ducts allow for better sealing — which is why we include it with every non-flex duct sealing job (we aren’t able to clean “flex” duct systems because of the risk of damage).
